Hair Stylists Helping Hair Stylists #Bostonstrong
By the MjjM Salons team
A year ago today, Celeste Corcoran, a hair stylist in Boston, and her daughter Sydney, were waiting at the finish line for her sister Carmen to complete the Boston Marathon. In the tragic bombing, Celeste lost both of her legs and Sydney was critically injured. Their lives were irrevocably changed forever.
As a member of the hair stylist community, Celeste's story hit home with us at MjjM Salons and Supercuts, and we wanted to do more. Last May, MjjM Salons and Supercuts participated in the "Boston Celeste-a-thon", a cut-a-thon to raise funds for Celeste and her daughters recovery. Supercuts raised $20,000 of the $121,500 that were raised for the Corcoran family.
One year later, Celeste hopes to cross the finish line with her sister Carmen, who is running again, on her new legs. Natalie Morales of NBC's The Today Show has been following Celeste's recovery in this video: Hair Stylist Survival Story #Bostonstrong.
We are so inspired by Celeste's story, and will cheer her and her sister on next Monday! We are #Bostonstrong!
